Common questions
Impact-door FAQ
What types of impact doors do you install?
Entry doors (single, double, sidelights), sliding glass doors (2-, 3-, and 4-panel), French doors (in-swing or out-swing), and patio doors. Custom sizes for non-standard openings. We work with PGT, ES Windows, and CWS doors.
How are impact doors different from regular doors?
Impact doors use laminated glass — two panes bonded with a clear plastic interlayer that holds the glass together when struck. The frame is reinforced steel or aluminum, and locks are multi-point engaging the frame at three or more positions. Tested to ASTM E1996.
Do impact doors lower my insurance?
Yes — impact doors count toward your Wind Mitigation insurance credit alongside impact windows. Most homeowners see 20-45% off the wind portion of their premium when ALL openings are protected.
How much does an impact entry door cost?
Standard 36" impact entry doors typically run $2,400-$4,500 installed, including hardware. Sliding glass doors run $4,500-$9,000 depending on size and panel count. French and double-entry units are higher.
